Meet Alyxandra Paige

I’m Alyxandra, and I’m glad you’re here! I’m a licensed professional counselor, certified Christian counselor, and ordained pastor. I’m passionate about helping people work through the things they’re carrying while finding healing, hope, and a stronger sense of who they are. My faith is an important part of who I am and how I approach counseling, and I believe you shouldn’t have to choose between caring for your emotional health and staying grounded in your faith.

The Heart Behind the Practice

Picture
As I continued to grow in my relationship with Jesus and grow as a counselor, I started to notice a need and felt a real burden to help people who were doing their best to walk out their faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus, but were also struggling with their mental health.

I saw this in so many different ways. I saw ministry leaders who were serving the church but needed a safe place to process hard things, work through personal struggles, or simply have someone to talk to. I also saw Christians at different places in their faith struggling with things like anxiety, depression, life changes, and other challenges, sometimes wondering if what they were experiencing meant they were doing something wrong.

I've had many conversations with people who felt like their mental health struggles were a sin or that God was mad at them because they were struggling. That really impacted me and I began to feel a strong burden to help people understand that God is not mad at them and that He cares deeply about their mental health too.

I believe Jesus can change anything in an instant, but I also believe He has allowed counselors to be part of the healing process. That is a big part of why I created Sustaining Grace Christian Counseling. I want people to have a place where they can work through what they're facing, grow in their faith, and know that they don't have to feel ashamed for struggling.

Training & Experience

I earned my Master's in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University and completed additional training in Expressive Arts Therapy and Play Therapy throughout the four years following graduation. I later became a certified Christian counselor, which gave me additional training in bringing together clinical counseling and my Christian faith.

My experience has also been shaped by my early years as a counselor, when I worked primarily with children, as well as my own growth within the church. As I became more serious about my faith, I became more involved in my church, eventually stepping into leadership and becoming an ordained pastor. Being involved in the church in different ways has allowed me to see the many different experiences Christians can have, both the good and the difficult.

All of these experiences have shaped how I approach counseling today. I want to understand the whole person, what they are experiencing emotionally, what is happening in their life, and how their faith may be connected to it. I want to help people make sense of what they are going through and find practical ways to move forward while still honoring their faith.

Who I Serve

I work with children, teens, and adults who are trying to navigate life, faith, and their mental health. You don't have to be in a certain place in your faith to reach out. I work with people who are deeply involved in their faith, people who are struggling with their faith, and people who are simply trying to figure things out.

Ministry Leaders & Their Families
I especially enjoy working with ministry leaders and their families, including children and adults who have grown up in the church and may feel like they are expected to have it all together or held to a different standard.

Children, Teens & Families
I work with children and teens who are working through emotional or life challenges, as well as parents who want help understanding what their child is experiencing and how to support them.

Christians Navigating Mental Health
I work with people dealing with things like anxiety, depression, life changes, and other struggles who want to be able to talk about their mental health without feeling like they have to leave their faith out of it.

People Who Feel Stuck
I also work with people who have been trying to figure things out on their own but still feel stuck and aren't sure what to do next.

How I Help

My approach combines clinical counseling with a faith based foundation. I want you to have a space where you can be honest about what you're carrying, work through what's going on, and talk about your faith without feeling like you have to separate the two.

I also believe support can look different depending on what you need. For some people, that may be individual counseling. For others, it may look like a therapy intensive, group, workshop, or retreat.

Whatever support looks like for you, my hope is that you leave with a better understanding of yourself, practical tools to help you move forward, and the encouragement to keep growing.

A Little Encouragement

If you're struggling right now, I want you to know that you don't have to have everything figured out before you reach out. Struggling doesn't mean you've failed, and it doesn't mean God is mad at you.

You are allowed to take care of your mental and emotional health. You are allowed to ask for help. You don't have to figure everything out on your own.

Whether that support ends up being with me or somewhere else, I really do hope you find the support you need and feel God's hand helping you along the way.
